A number of manufacturers are now offering scrappage schemes in order to tempt motorists into buying more efficient and cleaner vehicles. These include Mitsubishi, Nissan, Seat, Dacia, Hyundai, Toyota, Audi, Volkswagen, Ford, Lexus, Peugeot, Citreon, Suzuki, Mazda, MG, Fiat, Kia, Renault, Skoda, Mercedes Benz, BMW, Mini and Vauxhall.

Auto Trader have an online tool enabling allows drivers to find the best scrappage deal for them. Whilst many car manufacturers have been reluctant to release figures about numbers of cars scrapped, Auto Trader has revealed which models the 18,000 motorists who’ve used the tool have been looking for scrappage information
on.

At the top of the list is the Volkswagen Golf. In fact three of the top 10 cars were VW’s including the Polo and Passat. This may be due to the emissions cheating revelations which have emerged.

According to Auto Trader these are the top 10 cars people are trying to scrap.

3. Vauxhall Astra

4. Ford Fiesta

5. Vauxhall Cora

6. BMW 3 Series

7. VW Polo

8. Ford Mondeo

9. Honda Civic

10. VW Passat
